Many thanks for making 2014 Winchester Film Festival a success!
The Festival was established in 2010, so this will be our fifth annual event. As always, our aim is to screen great films in great locations, showing both classic and more recent films (you may have missed at the cinema first time round!) in atmospheric places and spaces in and around the beautiful City of Winchester. Each year we strive to find new and interesting locations that provide the perfect settings in which you can re-discover classic films, or even catch them for the first time! This year we have a great line-up for you, including Hitchcock’s Strangers on a Train on a tennis court, The Hunchback of Notre Dame in the Cathedral, Orson Welles’s F for Fake in an art gallery and the Classic Ealing comedy, The Ladykillers in a High Street bank!
As in previous years we donate the proceeds of the Festival to a nominated charity. For 2014 we are pleased to announce that our main charity will be Blue Apple Theatre and for the screening in Lloyds Bank the proceeds will be donated to Alzheimer's Society. So I hope that you will come along to one, more or all of the films and experience a unique cinematic event while also raising funds for very worthy causes.
Please note that screenings are not in standard venues, so you will need to dress appropriately. For three of this year’s venues (The Great Hall, Winchester Racquet & Tennis Club and Winchester Cathedral) you are advised to wrap up warm. Although we try our best to ensure comfortable seating you may wish to bring along a cushion to sit on.
Tickets are ‘virtual’ and sold through University of Winchester website. After booking your name will be added to the attendance list. No ‘hardcopy’ tickets are issued.
Should you have any queries/special needs, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Please note that tickets are electronic, and purchasing a ticket adds your name to the attendance list. There are no hardcopy tickets.
