Welcome to Winchester Film Festival 2012! The Festival was established in 2009, so this is the fourth event that we have had the pleasure of programming. Our aim is to screen great films in appropriate (and often unusual) locations in and around Winchester. This year, all our locations are new to the Festival, with the exception of The Great Hall, where we are showing the Mel Brooks classic Young Frankenstein. Following on from this spectacular launch, a range of interesting and atmospheric venues will provide perfect settings in which to re-discover these classic films or even catch them for the first time. Among the array of great ‘on location’ film experiences that we have for you this year, you can ‘dive in’ to The Swimmer with Burt Lancaster screened over the swimming pool at River Park Leisure Centre, have your ‘day in court’ with Sidney Lumet’s absorbing drama 12 Angry Men at Winchester Crown Court and ‘catch’ David Lean’s iconic love story Brief Encounter as it ‘pulls’ into Alresford Station. In another special event that we have arranged for this year, you will be able to catch a bus to watch Keanu Reeves in Speed, an ‘edge of your seat’ thriller movie on the move!

Check our programme section for the full listings!

Each year, the Winchester Film Festival works in partnership with a local charity. This year, We are delighted that all the proceeds from the 2012 Winchester Film Festival will be donated to the Friends of the Family, so you can experience a unique cinematic event while also raising funds for a very worthy cause.
